Jack Zamora, MD

Chief of Bio-aesthetics

Specializing in innovative cosmetic applications for the face, eyes, and body, Dr. Zamora is a leader in minimally invasive treatments. Graduating from Tulane University in New Orleans, he received a doctorate degree in medicine and completed his internship at Boston Medical Center (internal medicine), his residency at Boston University (ophthalmology department), and completed his fellowship at Boston University (ophthalmology and oculoplastics).

As our leader in bio-aesthetics, Dr. Zamora and his teams offer surgical and non-surgical facial refinement, skin rejuvenation, and body sculpting services. Dr. Zamora specializes in exceptional patient care and providing procedures that achieve natural looking results with as little downtime as possible. His straightforward assessments and extreme attention to detail give patients comfort and confidence.

As the creator of J-Plazty®, Dr. Zamora has received national and international attention for his revolutionary technique. J-Plazty® is a minimally invasive procedure that uses Renuvion plasma energy sub-dermally to instantly tighten and rejuvenate skin anywhere on the face and body without large incisions, downtime, or the complications of traditional surgery. As an authority on skin tightening applications, Dr. Zamora has seen remarkable results with plasma and often combines it with other radiofrequency (RF) modalities for superior rejuvenation. Utilizing his plasma techniques with micro and macroneedling radiofrequency (RF), Dr. Zamora is seeing unparalleled skin shrinkage as well as tightening of extremely delicate tissue allowing for longterm improvement with less downtime.

Being an international trainer for J-Plazty, Apyx Medical, and Bausch Health Companies Inc., and a luminary for AMP Medical, Lutronic Medical, and Syneron ELOS, Dr. Zamora offers his expertise to physicians from around the globe. He is a regular speaker and consultant, has been featured on The Doctors TV Show, and has written on the techniques and parameters of soft tissue coagulation and subcutaneous neck skin plasma tightening.

John D. Phillips, PhD

Professor John D. Phillips, PhD

Chief Scientific Advisor

Dr. John D. Phillips, Ph.D. is a Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at the University of Utah, where he served as the Associate Dean of Research and Infrastructure. During his tenure, Dr. Phillips had the privilege of consulting with the Abu Dhabi Stem Cell Center, aiding in their preparation for the UAE’s first stem cell transplants. This collaboration led to their FACT accreditation for processing and the expansion of their services, including the in-house manufacturing of CAR-T cells for B-cell malignancies.

With extensive experience in cell processing, cryopreservation, and selective expansion, Dr. Phillips has interests in specific T-cell responses to malignancies, birth tissue products, stem cells and exosomes for clinical use.

Dr. Phillips obtained his B.S. from University of New Hampshire, and then his Ph.D. from Dartmouth College.

Professor Mari van de Vyver, PhD

Professor Mari van de Vyver, PhD

Scientific Advisor

Prof Mari van de Vyver is an Associate Professor in the Department of Medicine at Stellenbosch University, South Africa, where she is part of the Experimental Medicine Research Group within the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences. She has expertise in endocrinology (diabetes), inflammation, stem cells and regenerative medicine, specifically developing novel regenerative therapies for wound care. Having authored over 47 scientific publications, co-authored four book chapters and successfully supervised more than 30 postgraduate students, she is an NRF-rated researcher with national standing and international recognition in her field.   She holds a PhD (Physiological Sciences) and a MPhil (Exercise Physiology) from Stellenbosch University, South Africa and a BSc (Human Biology) from the University of the Free State, South Africa.   Prof van de Vyver serves on the executive committee of the Society for Endocrinology, Metabolism and Diabetes of South Africa (SEMDSA).

Dr. Sophia Bou-Ghannam

Sophia Bou-Ghannam, PhD

Scientific Advisor

Dr. Bou-Ghannam serves as the Chief Scientific Advisor at TriCelX, bringing a decade of clinical research experience in mesenchymal stem cell (MSC) therapeutics for regenerative medicine. She holds a PhD in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Utah, where she trained under Professor Teruo Okano, the esteemed father of cell sheet tissue engineering. Throughout her career, she has authored over 10 peer-reviewed publications demonstrating the clinical utility of MSCs for treating various complex fibrotic and degenerative diseases, including cardiomyopathy, liver fibrosis, and orthopedic defects.

Her original research focused on engineering MSCs to enhance their pro-regenerative and anti-inflammatory capacities, maximizing their ability to act as bioactive factor delivery depots upon transplantation. Dr. Bou-Ghannam was awarded a Whitaker International Fellowship to conduct translational stem cell research at Tokyo Women’s Medical University in Japan, where she extensively studied exosomes and developed robust methods for their production, isolation, and characterization.

She recently held the role of Cell Line Development Lead at a prominent company specializing in large-scale stem cell production, managing operations at scales up to 6,000 liters for commercial applications. Dr. Bou-Ghannam joins TriCelX to leverage her extensive experience in advanced biologics and their manufacturing to develop evidence-based medicines addressing unmet clinical needs and improving human health and performance.
